Commercial property developer Stoford said it has reached practical completion of the 36,000 sq ft office development, which is adjacent to Henkel’s existing facility at Wood End Lane in Hemel Hempstead.

Henkel has taken a 15-year lease on the V-shaped three-storey building, which was forward funded by British Steel Pension Fund (BSPF). Anglo Holt Construction carried out the build and fit out.

Henkel’s new HQ consolidates its activities from its existing offices in Hatfield and Aylesbury.

Henkel, which was founded in Germany in 1876, employs around 1,000 staff in the UK and Ireland. The company’s portfolio of brands includes Schwarzkopf, Pritt, Sellotape and Loctite.

Mike Peacock, ‘One Roof’ project manager at Henkel, said: “We are very impressed with the new building and it’s great to see the extremely high quality construction and attention to detail demonstrated by the development and construction team.

“We are really looking forward to all the benefits that bringing our adhesives, beauty care and UK headquarters teams together under ‘one roof’ at Hemel Hempstead will bring.”

Matt Burgin, joint managing director at Stoford, added: “This has been a very successful development on behalf of the British Steel Pension Fund and the new occupiers. We are delighted to reach practical completion and to hand over a landmark HQ building to Henkel.”
