Dow Corning, a global leader in silicones, silicon-based technology and innovation, is launching here today at in-cosmetics (stand #7E60), Trends Lab 2015, the company’s new portfolio of innovative formulation concepts that anticipate upcoming consumer preferences in skin care and hair care. Titled “You are Unique,” this most recent edition of the Trends Lab focuses on the importance of individual expression. As part of the program, Dow Corning is also showcasing formulation kits featuring the latest developments in skin tightening and hair care textures. The company’s third Trends Lab program and the introduction of these new kits underscore Dow Corning’s commitment to stay ahead of lifestyle changes through intensive research and provide valuable insights – and targeted formulations – to the industry.

Top Trends for 2015

Dow Corning is presenting formulation concepts and kits for skin care and hair care that address four important trends, identified and defined by the company as:

  • Authenticity – reflecting the global trend for authentic products that enhance a person’s natural beauty and contain only ingredients that are needed.

    Formulations supporting this trend include Happy Hair Cream, which is a rich, bouncy gel to tame and control kinky or other hard-to-harness hair; and SimplyME Nude BB Cream featuring Dow Corning® ES-5300 Formulation Aid, which provides a light, powdery feel and a nude effect for radiant skin.

  • Express Yourself – enabling consumers to freely express their personalities and lifestyles by enhancing their appearance.

    For this trend, Dow Corning is offering Look@ME Lip Stain Serum featuring Dow Corning® EL-7040 Hydro Elastomer Blend. This nourishing lip stain provides a velvety smooth feel. For hair care, Mon Parfum hair perfume multi-tasks by combining fragrance with moisturization, conditioning and shine.

  • Do it Yourself – showcasing consumer demands for customizable Dow Corning’s Up 2 ME collection of formulations, which include Moisture Control Cream, Perfecting Primer for anti-aging and Fabulous Foundation provide opportunities for skin color matching.
  • Men are Unique Too! – emphasizing the double-digit growth of made-for-men skin care products and cosmetics, a market expected to continue to thrive.

    Targeting this trend, Dow Corning is exhibiting two skin formulations for men only. The first is Manouflage Concealer, featuring Dow Corning® 9701 Cosmetic Powder, which provides a smooth feel and sebum absorption. The second is Cool Beard Lotion, which delivers quick absorption and a smooth after-feel, and contains anti-irritant actives.

Silicone Film Formers Enable Age-defying Results

Dow Corning’s new SensaLift formulation kit showcases unique skin-tightening formulations with proven performance for lifting and firming the face and neck area. The kit leverages the company’s silicone film formers to create Soft O’Clock soft-focus anti-aging hydrogel, Tight & Go smooth film anti-aging hydrogel and Silky Glance anti-aging water-in-oil emulsion, offering greater levels of performance to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Additionally, the products provide an improved sensory experience, leaving skin visibly smoother with less tackiness and residue typically associated with skin firming formulations. This not only imparts a more youthful look to the skin, but also a more youthful feel to the touch

Also being introduced at in-cosmetics, Dow Corning’s H2O Infusion Hair Texture Kit showcases unique water-based, leave-in formulations that deliver new textures and forms. Included in this kit is cream, hair powder, clear serum, serum and hair wax.
