The adhesive will fill gaps to 0.12 in. (3mm). The\r\ntough, high-strength adhesive is well suited for metal bonding and joining\r\nmaterials including ceramics, glass, rubber and temperature-resistant plastics.\r\nAPPLICATIONS: Metal- to-metal bonding.\r\nADVANTAGES: \u2022 Good heat resistance to 248\u00b0F (120\u00b0C)\r\n\u2022 Good peel strength\r\n\u2022 Good chemical resistance\r\nTYPICAL Test Values(1)\r\nPROPERTIES: Property Test Method One Component Epoxy\r\nColor Visual Beige\r\nSpecific Gravity ASTM D-792 1.15 - 1.20\r\nViscosity at 77\u00b0F (25\u00b0C), cP Thixotropic paste\r\nPROCESSING Pretreatment\r\nThe strength and durability of a bonded joint are dependant on proper treatment\r\nof the surfaces to be bonded. At a minimum, joint surfaces should be cleaned\r\nwith a good degreasing agent such as acetone or other proprietary degreasing\r\nagents in order to remove all traces of oil, grease and dirt.\r\nLow grade alcohol, gasoline or paint thinners should never be used.\r\nThe strongest and most durable joints are obtained by either mechanically\r\nabrading or chemically etching (\u201cpickling\u201d) the degreased surfaces. Abrading\r\nshould be followed by a second degreasing treatment\r\nAdhesive Application\r\nThe resin\/hardener mix is applied with a spatula, to the pretreated and dry joint\r\nsurfaces.\r\nA layer of adhesive 0.002 to 0.004 in. (0.05 to 0.10mm thick) will normally impart\r\nthe greatest lap shear strength to the joint.\r\nThe joint components should be assembled and clamped as soon as the\r\nadhesive has been applied. An even contact pressure throughout the joint area\r\nwill ensure optimum cure.\r\nMechanical processing\r\nSpecialist firms have developed metering, mixing and spreading equipment that\r\nenables the bulk processing of adhesive.\r\nHuntsman Advanced Materials will be pleased to advise customers on the choice\r\nof equipment for their particular needs.\r\nEquipment maintenance\r\nAll tools should be cleaned with hot water and soap before adhesives residues\r\nhave had time to cure. This effect is particularly marked\r\nwhere the bond surfaces are large.\r\nTypical cured\r\nproperties\r\nUnless otherwise stated, the figures given below were determined by testing\r\nstandard specimens made by lap-jointing 6.6 x 1.0 x 0.06 in.(170 x 25 x 1.5mm)\r\nstrips of aluminum alloy.
